Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

From bakers: account details (name, email, shop name and slug), storefront content you add (product listings, photos, prices, fulfillment windows, payment handles like Venmo/Cash App/Zelle usernames), and order and customer records generated by your storefront.

From customers: the name, email, phone number, and order details (items, fulfillment window, notes) you give a baker at checkout. Customers don't create accounts on Knead; this information is tied to the order and to the baker's shop.

We also collect basic technical information for security and reliability, such as IP address, browser type, and request logs.

2. Signing In

Bakers can sign in with a one-time email code or with Google or Apple Sign-In. If you use Google or Apple, that provider shares a unique identifier, your name, and your email address with us; we don't request access to your contacts, files, or anything beyond basic sign-in information. We never see or store passwords.

3. How We Use Information

We use this information to operate the service: authenticating bakers, running storefronts and checkout, sending order and account emails, enforcing fulfillment capacity and prep-time rules, and keeping the app secure and reliable. We do not use baker or customer data for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Payments

Today, Knead does not process payments itself. Checkout displays the payment handles a baker has entered (Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, cash) so the customer can pay the baker directly, outside of Knead. If we later add card payments through a processor such as Stripe, that processor will handle payment card information directly, this policy will be updated first, and we will only ever receive information needed to confirm and record the order (not full card numbers).

5. Information Sharing

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Knead, and only so they can provide those services to us: Mailgun (email delivery), Google and Apple (sign-in), and our hosting and database providers. We do not share baker or customer information with other bakers, other customers, or unrelated third parties.

6. Cookies

Knead uses only essential cookies, for signed-in sessions and the shopping cart. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics.

7. Data Retention

Baker account data and storefront content persist while the account is active. Order and customer records are retained as part of a baker's order history so bakers can keep accurate business records. If a baker deletes their account, we remove their data promptly, aside from what we're required to keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your Rights

Bakers can review and update their account and storefront information at any time from the dashboard, and can request deletion of their account by emailing us. Customers who want their order information corrected or removed should contact the baker they ordered from directly, or email us and we'll help route the request.

9. Children's Privacy

Knead is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change, we'll let bakers know by email or an in-app notice.
